Hans Mikael (Mika) Savola is a Finnish-Israeli independent arbitrator based in Herzliya Pituach, Israel. He serves as sole, presiding and party-nominated arbitrator in international commercial and investment disputes.
Before embarking on his career as a full-time independent arbitrator, Mika worked for more than 20 years as attorney, partner and head of Dispute Resolution at a leading Nordic law firm in Helsinki. He focused on international and domestic Finnish arbitration, representing corporations in close to a hundred arbitration proceedings in many different jurisdictions.
Mika is a member of the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators (designated by the Government of Finland). He is also the past chair (2013-2018) of the Board of the Finland Arbitration Institute (FAI) and the chairman of the Task Force responsible for the revision of the FAI Arbitration Rules. Additionally, he has acted as the Finnish representative in various Task Forces set up by the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR.
